Now that December is here, Christmas keeps on getting closer. If you are still looking for decoration ideas that are nice to look at but don’t take a lot of time or any special skills to make, this last minute DIY advent wreath might be just right for you.
The trick behind this one is that you don’t make the actual wreath yourself. Around Christmas time plenty of shops offer ready-to-decorate wreaths for a couple of bucks. The one we used was bought from a farmers market and cost about 20 euros. Keep in mind that it is quite large, so any smaller wreaths will of course come even cheaper.
If you prefer ordering online rather than visiting a farmers market you can also find various wreaths on Amazon. This one even comes with the fitting for the candles.
Once you have your wreath you can start decorating. We wanted to achieve a rather natural look with our advent wreath so we opted for some dried oranges, cinnamon sticks, pine cones and brown wrapping band to form the bows. We also went for some tiny red baubles to give the wreath just a splash of color.
We used hot glue to keep everything in place once we laid out the decoration. The great thing about this wreath is that it smells absolutely wonderful! The scent of the oranges and the cinnamon goes perfectly with the fir tree twigs. It simply smells like Christmas.
